Play Schemes
We run a variety of schemes for children throughout the year during the holidays and half term breaks. We organise fun activities and trips out to exciting places for children aged 5-13.
Our trained and experienced staff support the children, with a minimum staff ratio of one member of staff to two children. Transport to and from home and for all activities is provided.
Here’s what our parent and carers said about our 2009 Summer Play Scheme:
How did the children benefit from the Play Scheme?
‘[my son]’ had lots of fun days out, doing things he would not normally have access to – best scheme ever!’
‘[my son] loved it and looked forward to each day. He felt safe and secure. Very well organised with great staff as usual – well thought-out venues’
‘[my daughter] was taken out for a fun packed day – each day was a different location and different activities’
‘[my son] was able to go out and to socialise’
‘[my son] gained in confidence and it helped with his independence’
‘[my son] loved the fact he was leaving us all behind – enjoyed his independence’
‘[my son] absolutely loves going on outings with Merton Mencap.
‘A good variety of interesting days out’
What was the feedback from children on the activities?
‘[my daughter]’ cannot talk, however she was happy to go out in the mornings and happy when she returned home, to me indicating that she is happy in general’
‘I have never seen [my son] so excited each day – he was getting ready in the morning, earlier and earlier! He loved the Legoland best’
‘[my son] doesn’t speak but I know him well and can tell he enjoyed every activity’
‘He really enjoyed them’
‘very little feedback but said he enjoyed the outings’
‘he loved everything – he was a bit sad he did not have dry slope skiing like last year as that was the highlight of his summer!’
‘[my son] enjoyed himself very much’
‘[my son] had a really good time – can he come again next time please?’
‘[my son] can’t talk but he was eagerly awaiting the bus every morning. He ate all his lunch every day which proved he was happy.’
