Learn to prepare a healthy meal and pudding with our fantastic CookSmart cooking tutorials!
CookSmart is accessible cooking tutorials for children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) and their parent/carer which involves practical instruction to prepare a meal, which they make together. A main course meal and pudding is learnt which can be taken home afterwards.
CookSmart takes place in a large training kitchen and all ingredients are provided on the day. CookSmart sessions are run by our Merton Mencap team who make learning fun. Ingredients are provided on the day, and recipes are provided too so participants can cook the meal again at home! CookSmart promotes healthy eating and life-skills development, while providing an enjoyable cooking session and the chance to meet others.
CookSmart is available to children with SEND who either live or educated in the London borough of Merton. CookSmart is provided to children of varying ages – for example, some sessions are for children aged 6-11years, other sessions are for children aged 10-15years.

Monday 16 February, 2 sessions: 10am-12pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm
Tuesday 17 February, 2 sessions: 10am-12pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm

How to book
Holiday Activities & Food clubs (HAF)
HAF clubs are funded programmes which parents of children with special education needs & disabilities (SEND) who receive HAF vouchers can access. Some CookSmart sessions are provided under the HAF programme and other CookSmart sessions can be booked directly with us (free).
